A Request For Knowledge Empty
PostSubject: A Request For Knowledge   A Request For Knowledge Icon_minitimeMon Feb 16, 2009 9:15 pm

Hi,

I 've come to this forum with no Alchemy experience at all.
However my path leads up to here so far.
I need to accumulate rounded practical knowledge regarding the practical processes of Alchemy which will give me a base to work from.

I own many books regarding "forbidden knowledge" which have always referenced Alchemy having a link or a metaphorical association, but have up to this point had too much to get through before this time.

The only specifically "Alchemical" (Theory) I have almost completed is "The Emerald Tablet, Alchemy for Personal Transformation" by Dennis N. Hauck. I have no idea if this is one of those books that have "lead so many astray" maybe somebody can enlighten me on this.

However, this is a request for any examples (of books or other media ) that can give someone like myself a solid base regarding the elements, processes likely to be executed and or other material/s you may think will benefit me in this goal.

Thank you in advance for any information submitted, I appreciate the effort and work that is associated with the knowlege gained by the experienced on this site, in theory and practice and so, I am not looking for a free ride on you.. just a grounding to start from. (Right at the beginning)

On the other hand, I would appreciate (without prejudice) anybody that would consider themselves in a position to advise me to be the only people to do so, as being an almost 0 logical thinker it takes me much more time than the average person to take in information.

Many Thanks again, and all I can say is... you never know, maybe sometime soon I can repay you with other knowledge. (Within this Forum of course)

I strongly recommend the 1st alchemy book a person reads when begging their journey is "A Rosicrucian Notebook" by Willy Schrodter. Almost the entire book can be read for free at books.google.com

It's the 1st book I read before I even knew what alchemy was. I was only 15, and I was interested in astral projection, and that's how I found that book. It's vary vague on the Philosopher's Stone and doesn't give any clue as to how it's made. But it explains the world of alchemy in a very magical way, unlike any other book does. It will present alchemy to you like a movie that takes place in the middle ages. Very enchanting.

The book promises that anyone who has a pure heart and is truly dedicated to becoming an alchemist will be have their thoughts and desires heard by members of the real invisible Rosicrucian Order. And sure enough, within one year of reading that book, members of the Rosicrucian Order in my own neighborhood summoned me out of my house to witness the White Stone being used to make a bowl of rainwater rise up to the full moon an eclipse it. And several years later, when I read "Hyle and Cohyl" I found that method of using the white stone. It's the one and only book to describe that method of meeting other alchemists.

Anyway, the Rosicrucian Notebook is an amazing book, and never dreamed I would ever be able to discover so many secrets of alchemy on my own. But I guess I never really was completely alone on this journey.

Ah yes "Real Alchemy" does have a lot of errors with the processes he presents, especially the mercury and antimony path to making the stone which doesn't work at all like he describes it because most of his work is just theory and he hasn't done much real lab work, hence the lack of photos on his website.

But the book is a perfect introduction for anybody who is just learning about alchemy and needs to know all the basics and theory behind alchemy. If everyone would just read that book before posting any questions here, there would be a lot less of the questions most of us see as "common sense" because we learned it so long ago.

I was actually led to alchemy through my studies in herbal medicine when I discovered Spagyrics. The first book I read on alchemy was a scholastic dissertation titled "Alchemy: Science of the cosmos, science of the soul" by Titus Burckhardt. It had sat on my shelf for a couple years collecting dust, until, when after I found out about spagyrics, I took it down and read it. Though a bit antiquated in its style, it was still a good read and got me pretty well up to speed with all the concepts. While we are on the subject of books, what do you guys think of Junius and his book on Spagyrics? Granted it doesn't have anything in the way of metal operations, but I have found it most useful as a very in depth and scholarly presentation of not just the lesser art, but the philosophical, astrological and conceptual background as well. And Albertus' handbook and Volpierre are, of course, must reads, at least for a better conceptual perspective.

Hi Karitsis,

i can recomand you to read the things Paracelsus wrote on alchemy. He was one of the greates alchemists ever and gives and good overview over entire alchemy.
But in general I can say: Just start to read what you want or what you happen to get in your hands. The things you need will come to you at the right time. So don't worry - just start to read something.

Ah yes "Real Alchemy"

Real Alchemy was the very first book I read. Yes I too recommend
it.

It details some of the basic processes and gives a lot of very good
information. As you read verious books a lot of what is written does
not make a lot of sense. I read a section of an internet book called
"The Art of Alchemy" By Delmar Bryant about a year ago. I was
completely and totally confused and basically clueless to what he was
saying. I found that book again this morning and started reading it again
and I was amazed at how much more I understood what he was talking
about. By the way there is quite a bit of information on dew in it.

As you progress and start doing lab work and spending the time that it
takes to do some of the processes you begin to change mentally spiritually
and I'm sure to some extent even physically. As Alchemy starts to get
into you there is a process of transmutation that goes on where your
mind and your thought processes begin to change. We start to look at
everything around us with entirely different eyes.

A good example of this is today I was riding the train home from work
and off to the west was this massive cloud bank. This was right as the
sun was going down and you could see the rays of the sun passing
through the clouds and also creating a halo effect around the top edges
of the cloud. It was totally amazing. With the way the light was passing
through them I could actually feel the energy that I could see with my eyes.
Knowing what is going on between the sun and the moisture in the air and
the earth made me think about some of the things we discuss on this forum.

Now, 2 years ago I would have thought "WOW" someone is going to get
really wet on the other side of Ft Worth.
Oh how our prospective on things change as our awareness and intuition
increases.

In our world today everything is instant this and fast food that. Even though we
as Alchemist speed mother nature up considerably most of these processes
take quite a bit of time. This is also the time required for the transmutation
to happen in us. We go through the same processes in ourselves as the matter
in our flask.

"As above so below."

Hi,

Travelingman777, After an initial scan of the document it is definetely information that resonates with me on some level. I'm not fully conscious of why a big part of me is understanding these writings of late. Considering how hard it must be to communicate these understandings in any form let alone writing, the fact that you do (or know you will) understand it knocks you sideways at first, as this is the amazing inner confirmation of the information at hand. Thank you for taking the time to post this. I am grateful.

Benedikt, Thank you for your advice, I have started to read about Paracelsus to some degree as he is almost unavoidable through the teachings I have received through writings of late.
Regarding your comment about "read what you want or what happens to be in your hands, the things you need will come to you at the right times"... this has been happening relentlessly for quite some time now, before this journey I really hardly read books, however book after book after book finds me, to the point where the relation of the information from book to book is so eerily interconnected, I've got to the stage whereas I know that I am not totally controlling this process. However, I am very grateful to what is, and having the time of my life knowing that I will be able to help others through this. Thank you for the time taken.

Magnum.opus1, The process you describe is definetely a process that I am experiencing, and once you identify it, it's quite simple to trace back to when it started (restarted) although you had no idea what was happening back then right. And once you get that spark and internally pause over those very observations you mentioned without ego or judgemental dis-interest but by searching for it's place in natures pattern, everything starts to become so much more divinely clear/er. Kind of like seeing Gods work in everything isn't it? Thank you for your addition sir, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all.
Isn't it interesting how selflessness creates a better self?

Hi Karitsis,

I read the same book "The Emerald Tablet, Alchemy for Personal Transformation" by Dennis N. Hauck, I thought that this was one of the most beautiful books I have read, I was able to understand a lot of things.

But I think it had to do with the reader, maybe once you have awaken more you can give it try again.

This is how I see the whole thing... there is Qabbalah, which I think it is essential to understand who you are part of it, and who you are. The Qabbalah takes you to complete the great work, this is a good link www.bota.org The Great work is the goal of all, in one life or another...

Then there is Alchemy, they have two paths that really is one path, the Spiritual Alchemy and Laboratory Alchemy. We can complete de Great Work through Qabbalah or the Spiritual Alchemy, and the lab work is a way to help the body complete this goal. The rise of vibration of all lower body's. So the way I understand is that through Lab Alchemy we maintain the body healthily and young long enough to complete the Great Work.

In Nick's web site Alchemy-Iluminate he has couple of links one of them being of a schools, which I recommend the www.flamelcollege.org/ which I think it will be a good start. Which is headed by Dennis Hauck.

Hope this helps you.
Sincerely,
Oscar.

Hello Orangelmx,

Yes, I did understand alot of D.Hauck' work and found it beautifully written.
It's just that I assume that if there are books with dis-information, then generally in my experience the good is written within the not so good, you know the saying,

"Any effective lie always has a truthful basis"

or something similar to that, however I've found that, that is usually quite easy to deistinguish between. I wish we could compare notes to some extent howvever I'll need to read it atleast 2 more times as nothing ever goes in the first time for me, and I kind of like that, aswell as knowing the different dirrections people come to the understanding of something.

I shall visit the links that you have provided, for through previous (recent) delving, Qabbalah resonated with me.

Thank you for your assistance it is greatly appreciated.
And I hope that I can return the gesture soon.

Kind Wishes

PostSubject: always fun to talk about readings   A Request For Knowledge Icon_minitimeSun Apr 05, 2009 8:38 pm

Dear Karitsis,

It's great that you're asking for information, I hope you have been enjoying the works suggested by others on the forum as they all seem quite good.

Nick's other site is always worth the visit, though I'm am pretty sure you've read it by now: http://www.philosophicalmercury.page.tl/Home.htm

Something that I wanted to mention broadly as a suggestion, perhaps you will find it interesting, is the golden chain of Homer. (a link to it: http://www.sacred-texts.com/alc/catena1.htm ). It's a popular alchemy text, not something to focus on for a process at first, but something that repeats the common lingo in many other texts.
It was one of the first things I read (though somewhat sparsely), a long time ago, and I didn't pay enough attention to it. Then again a lot of it resonated with me on some other level. I mention it because it contains lots and lots of references to the use of dew, rainwater, snow, and their alchemical properties. It can be a fun read, though of course the processes are more exploratory and not to be confused with the ones we are using which are clearly prescribed and written up. (Though one is similar to the Ruesenstein process).
The mutus liber is fun and worthwhile as well, and many have read it and pondered it, but it's something people have mentioned a lot already in reference to dew collection.

Of course there are other things you may be interested in, the alchemy site: http://www.levity.com/alchemy/ is always a fun place to go exploring or searching, you can find some of the works of Paracelsus there along with various alchemical images. I can't remember if you have the RAMS collection but it's worth purchasing (lots of very interesting information not all available online).

It's good to remember that there are many processes and lots of ways to get lost in the maze of information, it's very useful to try a process and at least have some work as a base as you do your reading. Of course the Leyden letter and the Ruesenstein document are easy and safe and probably the most recommended.

If you do find yourself drawn to doing more it's always good to review the precautions, learn a bit about the chemistry, and also about the alchemical details (The Volpierre process is a great example, there is a lot of care that needs to be taken with the acids and the metal that one needs to be aware of in terms of safety before starting that sort of thing, also there is a lot of faith that is needed in terms of understanding that the process evolves with time and runs its own course).
It's very useful to understand the precautions in all the letters and to take them seriously so as to ensure ones safety in procuring an elixir.

Hope this helps in some way, there is a lot to read but as one member said you will often be drawn to what you need as you go. That's a fun part in all of this, as Nick mentioned before, we are helped along in the process.

best wishes,

Bill

Hi bonifaesh,

Thank you for your advice I appreciate this, blessings to you.
It has been apparant to me that most if not all things needed have, as you and others have suggested, have made themselves available to me. A subtlety most awe intruiging.

Thank you again to all, for such suggestions as I have all but one or two titles so far, suggested.

I shall be working within this realm practically once I have received enough base knowledge through the theory to safely experiment. For me, for now, I feel that the conclusions that I am after are that which relate to the processes before the anticipated climax. This alone would provide me with what I feel I need (conclusions), before I move on to other things.... Although, I shall be collecting my dew very soon. [!]

Thank you again and
Love to all
