Antimony is an element on the periodic table. I'm not sure what it's exact use is, but it seems to be the only known neutrino emitter.

In the old days it was used to purify gold,(owing to its ability to dissolve gold only), but it seems to contain the seed of gold as well. Usually it's used with either silver amalgam, or harsh acids to help "open" the seed of gold by "adding virtue" to just barely push the gold past 100% purity,at which point it begins transmuting. (something to do with the neutrino radiation)

At any rate, this is a finicky process, because it creates only a scant few atoms of transmuting stone, which readily react with all metals and their salts. Fortunately the stone is a self creating catalyst, but it only works as long as you have a source of energy (heat) over the course of several months to sustain the very slow reaction.

The testament of Nicolas Flamel is one such amalgam path.
