So it uses ammonium nitrate, phosphorous, and mercury chloride.
The camphor seems to be to dissolve the phosphorous, and I have no idea as to what the sulfuric acid is for.
It seems to me that the ammonium, phosphorous, and mercury chloride are your main ingredients.
I am beginning to notice an increasing amount of evidence that maybe mercury chloride would work to allow the stone to penetrate through the metals. I despise the concept of using something so toxic but it makes sense. Since the stone is a nonmetal,if it was saturated with a metal that's liquid at room temperature and easily alloys with other metals, I bet it would ferment with gold and silver much more easily and thoroughly.
