Hi everyone!
I was wondering if we (The Group) could go step by step and cover the steven school path.

As far as I am concerned the first part is to dissolve the fools gold in peroxyacetic. (but there is no indication about the concentration of the acetic acid and the hydrogen peroxide) And there is also no indication about the ratio/porportion of the two liquids...

After dissolution, does one proceed as in the wet acetate path?

Best Regards,
Mike

Ps.: Nice to meet you all, I was checking this forum long time ago. I am doing the roger caro path and the amalgam path and I want to start the acetate path and steven schools path this spring.

God bless you all!

I would say you would need a 50 to 60 percent or better concentration
a temp of 120 to 150 degree heat till the white appears it is more of an acetate path and worth doing IMO.

Hi Smile
60-70% h2o2 can be dangerous. (you probably meant vinegar though... here I'll go 96%)
before we get to incubation we'll first have to dry distill our gum.
I'll start end of march.
I'll go with a ratio of 1:1 and try to mix h202 35% with vinegar 96%. (I'll do a few tests before to see if I have to raise the h202 concentration)
after destillation, (7times both waters) I wonder about how to make the salt volatile again. (I know a process by manfred junius for the vegetable kingdom. I wonder if it is the same Smile

Yes I meant vinegar 50 to 60 percent but the stronger would work too
I think h2o2 at 35 percent is the strongest you will find not sure if you can bye it any stronger then that. I my self have pirite and vinegar with h2o2 and it is showing a white on the top so it is coming along
slowly not trying to rush it . I doin't have stevens books so Im using the rams collection that deals with maracites.

Yes at least in Austria. (I even had to sign that I am not willing to blow something up xD) Well, we could go up with the percentage if we freeze the h2o2.
You mentioned that you got some whiteness. Are you heating the pyrite up? As far as I am concerned one shouldn't go above 40 degrees celsius. Higher temperatures are only necessary when distilling the sulphur and the mercury over. (some say if the tempretaure is to high for dissolution, it kills the ore. (that is why the secret fire was so precious)
I am not sure though...
