No way to see by the pic wich stopper it is.
Anyway we know that plastic stoppers are not so good...
The classic "pallone" for chemical use is OK.
Flat in the bottom for thermic plate, round in shape for thermic mantle.

I think that glass stopper well luted is the better.
Tappo di vetro smerigliato ben fatto...

500 ml / 1000 ml.

I hope with all my heart that the technical gum stopper really fits and keeps the pressure...
But - for what Nick said until now - it's better to avoid plastic and synthetic material.
This beacause we don't know what actually has weakened Nick's dew & salt alkahest. Nick, honestly, express us all his doubt.

About the thermometer I will use the contact one thermocouple (with infrared laser option), because we already know more or less what is the difference between inside and outside temperature.

I wish you a Good Opera.

Oscar:

The blue stopper will probably be O.K. in the water bath, but when you go to the sand bath and your at 200+
degrees F. You might have a problem around the thermometer. I would get some copper wire 18 gauge and wire the stopper in when you go to the higher temp. You may want to try a hot melt glue gun to seal the thermometer. Onec you hit 200 degrees that will be your weak point.

We are not sure what effect the rubber stopper will have on the process.

All the best,

Hi Magnun, thanks for the tip, but I am using a C degrees thermomether... which 200F = 93.33C and the termometer that I am using takes 150+C.

PS.
And for the people that donĀ“t know this are special stopers for chemical work, that are use for hight temperature... there is not any type of leak.
