| If anyone was looking for a simple method of constructing a furnace, here is what seems to be an easy way from a garbage can for a mold. not to shabby

| Nice, indeeed! But I can't figure how can that wire protect or reinforce the lid. In some place can't find pearlite but, anyway, considering the little weight of all the stuff I think that can be used only refractory cement. What you think about it? About furnaces. Anybody know something about Blaise De Vigenere's path ? I'm reading his book and I see that he explains some processes concerning furnaces, and some hints are the same in the J. French book, that was edited some year after the english version of De Vigenere's book. There are some remarkable pages concerning the waterwarks too. Somebody says that the quick path of De Vigenere it's something like a subfusion to find out the "fixed grain", I "quite remember:scratch:" some words from Canseliet... Let's say a "champagne-connection" . Zosimo | |

| You need to be very careful with what cement you use, because the wrong kind can explode when overheated. | |

| Ah, now I see, the chiken wire is the structure that keeps together the refractory cement under the lid. For what concerns the danger: you think bros. that the refractory cement it's enough or it's better to mix some pearlite with it?

It may be worth the extra cost to just buy a furnace. Try http://www.foundry101.com/search.htm the smaller ones cost is about $380.00 US and it works great. The price includes, Furnace, burner and shipping...at least State side. Hope this helps you in your decision.

| Thank you Bros, you're so kind. Of course the danger it's not only in the cement but in the lid too if you don't open another hole somewhere. And, more than this, it's in my wallet , it's so nervous: quite carnivorous. I've already bought the refractory cement, I'll drill a steel kitchen pot and... I'll show you the pics. Ah, wait! My wallet is saying that I've still to pay the ironsmith. I'll go on shoting on the crucibles with the buthane gun for a while. Zosimo | |

Frank I'd say that's pretty close. It really does heat up very fast!
