An alkahest is a nearly PH neutral water based substance that dissolves any metal but most importantly gold. A flux is used dry to lower the melting point of a substance by being melted with it. Either one can be used to make the stone if the energy is right, but without the energy both are likely to fail.

Thanks.

Interesting thing is a flux is added usually to extract non valuable metals and clean up / refine the gold. We want it to use it to give 'energy' to the gold.

Question then is: how do we introduce, add, increase, or fix astral energy into these salts.

Solve et coagula is how you fix energy into a salt. A more modern process which serves the same purpose is "refluxing". The best tool for that by far is a "soxhlet extractor" It's on my wish list as one of the more practical additions to my laboratory. You have to make sure to always use the same liquor that distills away from your substance. Only a substence's own distilate shares the same energy signature as the substance itself. If you use a foreign matter then the energy signatures fight and you wind up with a loss rather than a gain.
