Having read a text about this Franz Tausend I become curious about it and decided to
try this iron oxide/silica/KOH alkali procedure (http://www.rexresearch.com/alchemy5/tausend.htm)
Everythig was done in porcelain crucible on open fire of gas burner:
1)Added alkali to crucible and waited to melt on minimal fire (used glass screening on crucible
for safety!)
2)Added silica to alkali and waited to dissolve on same fire level
3)When silica dissolved added iron oxide and mixure became black and bubbling (with glass screening
on crucible!)
4)Continued heating on the same fire as long as moisture is driven out (as long as glass screen is
fogging white)
5)When moisture went out (screen dry from inside) removed screen and turned fire on maximum, crucible
became red hot in few minutes
6)Left it on red heat for 90 min.
During this time matter in crucible started to dry up and became
intensely green
7)Turned off fire and let it cool
8)Then broke the crucible and let pieces of it together with green crystalline substance to rest on
plastic surface (a small garden showel) on open air
9)Over the few days three thigs happened by themselves:green matter deliquesced in orange oil, than
this orange oil by itself hardened into orange glass than dessicated into white wool-like matter
which no further deliquesced
I was left curious about what happened with iron? It should be there providing some coloration
